What is Physical Sunscreen?

When choosing a sunscreen, we always consider its SPF (Sun Protection Factor) and PA (Protection Grade of UVA) rating, right? There is another important factor that people may not consider which is type of sunscreen. There are two main types of sunscreen: physical and chemical. Today, I will introduce ‘Physical Sunscreen’ which Kindee Sunscreen Lotion is also this type.

Physical Sunscreen contains mineral-based ingredients, like Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide which work by staying on top of the skin to deflect and scatter UV rays away from the skin. It can protect from both UVA and UVB rays.

Physical sunscreen is not absorbed into the skin and doesn’t make the skin heat up internally because it reflects away UV rays which is different from chemical sunscreen that absorbs UV rays and change UV rays into heat. So, physical sunscreen is more gentle and less irritating which is safe for babies and sensitive skin. Moreover, it can protect your skin as soon as it’s applied; no need to wait before heading outdoors

Because it’s the mineral-based sunscreen with Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide so there are no chemicals that damage coral reefs. Most sunscreens contain chemicals, like Oxybenzone or Benzophenone-3 or BP-3 and Octinoxate. When humans get into the water with these sunscreens, these chemicals can seep into the water. These are also absorbed by corals which disrupt coral's reproduction and growth cycles.
